Residency Requirements for Sun Valley Figure Skating Club Membership
The SVFSC requires that members of the SVFSC must be full time residents of Blaine County and/or be enrolled in a Blaine County School, or as approved by the SVFSC Board of Directors. Skaters who are not yet full time Blaine County residents, but who are taking steps to establish residency in Blaine County within one year, may be considered for membership if their principal training center is Sun Valley and their primary coach is a full time Blaine County resident.
1.     When considering nonresident membership, the Board of Directors shall take into consideration US Figure Skating Rule 3102.
US Figure Skating Rule 3102 provides:
a)     Intermediate and juvenile singles skaters must compete in the region where
legal residence is established or where the principal training center is located as listed on the qualifying competition entry form,
b)    skaters novice and above must compete at the regional championship held in
the region in which their home club is located, and
c)     pair and dance teams with different home clubs may choose to compete in the
sectional championship of either partner’s home club.
2.     Exceptions.  The Board of Directors may admit as nonresident members:
a)     Pairs skaters and/or ice dancers who train elsewhere, so long as at least one member of the team maintains substantial ties to the community.
b)    Adult, Collegiate and post-graduate skaters who formerly skated with SVFSC as full members or who have substantial ties to the community.

c)     Recreational skaters who do not compete in qualifying events, do not train elsewhere with a nonresident coach, and do not regularly skate or compete outside Sun Valley. These are typically second homeowners who skate for fun in Sun Valley while vacationing here. If such a member begins training and competing elsewhere, his or her eligibility for full membership in SVFSC should be reconsidered by the Board.
