Sun Valley Figure Skating Club Standing Rules, Update April 2011 1. The club relies on parent volunteers to meet its staffing needs. Therefore, all club member families are strongly encouraged to volunteer service for the club each year. Sign-up sheets for the various events - competitions, exhibitions, and other activities will be posted at the rink. You will be contacted by committee chairman or volunteer coordinators for specific volunteer assignments. If you would like to help but have a special situation, such as need to volunteer only during certain hours, please contact the volunteer coordinator for the event. 2. Minimum volunteer requirements for each skater 10 years and older is 4 hrs of service to the club during any of its annual competitions or fundraisers. 3. Minimum volunteer requirements for each parent of a SVFSC Jr. Member are 10 hours of service to the club during any of its annual events. 4. For 2011 $50, of the $90,SVFSC membership dues go directly to US Figure Skating. All additional budget items associated with operating the club (such as but not limited to phone, copier, office supplies, website, exhibitions, annual awards, insurance, postage, and printing) must be covered through fundraisers. THEREFORE, all club members are encouraged to participate in club fund-raising activities so that dues will not have to be raised to cover operational costs. The two fundraisers planned for the coming year are the Spring Performance and Fashions On Ice. 5. All members must keep their membership dues current. US Figure Skating membership runs July 1 - June 30th every year. Skaters must be current to participate in any competition and/or test sessions. In addition, competition forms, test fees, ice fees, and any other monies paid for skating costs to SVFSC or any other US Figure Skating club must be current. If not, the skater is not a member in good standing and will not be allowed to test, compete, or exhibit. 6. All club members must agree to abide by the Rules of Skating Etiquette. These can be found at the SV FSC website and the US Figure Skating Website. 7. Skaters who represent SVFSC at competitions and test sessions must wear SVFSC jackets. 8. Recognition will be given to skaters at the spring awards presentations and skating exhibition. Special recognition will be given for any skaters passing their Senior Gold Freestyle, Senior Moves in the Field, Senior Pairs, and Gold Dance tests. Special recognition for other achievements such as the Herman Maricich Award and the Judianne Fuller Sportsmanship Award will be given at the discretion of the SVFSC Board of Directors. 9. The SVFSC also requires that competitive members of the SVFSC must be a full time resident of Blaine County and/or be enrolled in a Blaine County School, or as approved by the SVFSC Board of Directors.
